Overview

Tonal is looking for an Editorial Manager to help define and execute our content marketing strategy to drive interest, understanding, and education of our product and adjacent fitness/wellness categories among prospective customers and current members. 

To be successful in this role, you should have a deep understanding of how to create engaging and compelling content, telling stories about our customers, coaches, product, and a healthy lifestyle in exciting new ways. In this role you will help hire and build out a team of writers and editors to create a steady pipeline of compelling long-form and short-form content. This role will be initially focused on written content, but there is opportunity to partner with our video production team to develop video content as well.

You should have experience managing teams of writers and driving content strategy for products and brands. Experience or familiarity with wellness and fitness is a plus. You should be a strong writer and editor, able to create content that is exciting and persuasive. 

The role is based in Toronto and will report to the Director of Brand and Product Marketing. Remote positions are also possible.

What You Will Do

Define and lead our content marketing strategy to create content that tells the story of Tonal, our coaches, our customers, and living a healthy lifestyle

Recruit and hire contract and full-time writers and editors to support the needs of the business

Help people understand the value of Tonal with compelling storytelling and best-in-class content marketing across blog, social, and web

Collaborate closely with design, email, and social to ensure we are talking with one voice to our customers

Interpret creative direction and adapt messaging points from creative briefs into persuasive content series concepts

Simultaneously manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

Collaborate with Social, Design, Marketing, and Customer Care

Lead content partnerships with other media outlets and brands to widen distribution of our assets

Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and experience managing and editing a team of writers

Personal training certification or fitness instruction experience a plus

Extremely creative with a high-volume written output

Ability to edit existing copy, to take first drafts and make them sparkle

Exceptional skill with the nuances of product-oriented writing
