We're looking for someone passionate about creating an amazing space, culture, and community for a small and growing team (15 people). This role is available immediately here at Kapwing HQ in San Francisco, reporting to and partnering closely with me, the CEO. As part of a growing company, this role has potential to develop into People Operations, Recruiting, or HR Leadership over time. For now, we're working remotely, so we need this person to be able to help us with virtual events and community as well.

Responsibilities

Owns regular office tasks like coordinating with our landlord, getting new furniture, ordering snacks and food, etc.

Manage office equipment and ergonomics. Make our physical space feel beautiful, comfortable, and clean.

Create community events that bring the team together (birthdays, offsites, happy hours, etc).

Partner with CEO to help with people-related tasks: on-boarding, interviewing, recruiting, and HR. Research new initiatives related to benefits, perks, and compensation.

Collect info and solicit feedback about how we can create healthy office culture

Customer Relations: Make our customers and affiliates feel special by sending out swag, talking with them for feedback, and hosting webinars/events for our creative community

Requirements

2+ years of experience in recruiting, office management, or community relations

Event planning: Can execute effectively to host virtual and in-person events. Budgeting, working with vendors, logistics. 

Creative: Can think of lots of solutions to a problem and brainstorm ways to delight and go above and beyond in scrappy, cost-effective ways. 

High energy and optimistic: Brings lots of energy and positivity to the team. Can lift people up and help people have fun.

Community oriented: Loves meeting new people, introducing people to each other, and helping people have a good time.

Our culture

We’re an engineering-heavy team, all interested in learning the latest web technologies and applying them to video, photography, and social media content. Founded by two product managers, Kapwing has a strong design and UX orientation when building new products.

Team Kapwing is scrappy and creative, and we love launching random things for fun (check out Cartoonify!). Everyone does a bit of everything, from operations to supporting our customers. We love the creators who use our product and embrace pop culture, design, music, and media trends, and we tackle tough engineering problems related to scaling video processing in the cloud. We order lunch together, go on offsites, and do a regular happy hour on Fridays.

Our hiring process

Our technical process is a short, behavioral interview about your past experiences, a sample of work project designed to take less than one day of work, two hours of interviews, and a lunch with our whole team. We value engineering excellence, product insight, eagerness for growth/impact, and the communication skills and empathy to collaborate well with a tight-knit team.

Julia Enthoven and Eric Lu previously worked together as product managers on the Image Search team at Google. The company was founded in 2017, and bootstrapped to over $100k ARR before raising money mostly through Product Hunt launches, a popular blog on entrepreneurship, and SEO.
