Summary of the Stance Retail Buying & Planning Manager:

Stance is growing its retail store footprint, and we are looking for an entrepreneurial buying & planning leader to direct our strategy and execution in this area.  Reporting to the VP of Retail, this person will wear many hats, and will own our retail store financial forecasting, demand planning, assortment planning, buying and inventory management.  This person needs to have prior experience scaling to and managing merchandising across at least 20+ stores.  The right candidate will live and breathe data and testing to drive decisions that create a large, successful fleet of Stance stores.

This position reports directly to the VP of Retail.

As the Stance Retail Buying & Planning, you will:

Create and maintain an aligned sales forecast and store plans in partnership with the Finance team

Lead product strategy for Stance Retail by influencing line creation and assortment planning with centralized merchandising team

Develop pre-season sales, assortment and inventory plans for all categories that meet key business and financial goals, ensuring profitability

Align product offering with consumer purchasing trends

Create pre-season sales and inventory plans for all categories that support retail strategy

Drive category space allocation based on productivity and contribution; scalable in a multi-store model for efficient buying and replenishment

Buy retail assortments across multiple categories each season

Establish and review performance metrics by stores and product categories

Report weekly/monthly/quarterly sales and product performance results and use data to make actionable decisions such as markdowns, transfers, and product assortments in stores

Manage in-store and total inventory levels to strict KPIs; manage retail open to buy and excess inventory exit strategy

Oversee weekly replenishment and allocation to stores

Partner with marketing around new product launches and campaigns

Be in close communication with store managers regarding inventory levels, product assortment and sales trends

Partner with visual and marketing team on in-store campaigns, promotions and featured product

Monitor market and consumer trends to drive positive change at Stance 

Partner with retail team on new store openings and pop-up stores

Collaborate cross functionally across all revenue channels and operations on demand planning and inventory levels

We are looking for someone with the following skills and qualifications: 

Must have prior experience leading planning, buying and allocations for a 20+ store chain

Analytical decision maker, able to drive top line and bottom line through data-driven decisions

5+ years’ experience with sales planning, forecasting, and tracking

5+ years’ experience in assortment planning and buying strategies

5+ years’ experience in inventory management and demand planning across multiple stores and categories
