ROLE

Spire Maritime data is a combination of Spire Satellite data, associated tools for analytics &  visualisation and third party data that enables our customers to optimise businesses. We’ve tripled growth three years in a row and need a seasoned leader who can iterate on our product vision, grow our engineering and product teams, refine our engineering culture, and build products at scale.

As the Head of the Maritime Engineering and Product team, you will manage a team of Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Development Engineers and Product Managers to build and deploy innovative Maritime data services, solutions and models that work at scale.  You will interface with senior leaders within the Maritime organization and partner with Engineering and Product leaders across Spire Global.  You will be responsible for the team's ongoing product roadmap and setting a high bar throughout the entire software development and deployment lifecycle,  including design, development, documentation, testing and operations.  

As the senior executive in this role, you will  drive the data platform strategy including APIs, data services, AI/ML services, customer/partner integrations, data management, reporting and visualization tools. You will be accountable for facilitating continuous improvements within the product and engineering organizations and impacting cross-functionally across the Space Engineering, Data Engineering, Customer Success, Marketing, Product Marketing and Sales organizations

The successful candidate is a self-starter who is able to operate in a fast-paced, innovative but constantly evolving environment; who continually invites, fosters and synthesizes diverse perspectives on needs and constraints; and who demonstrates collaborative leadership at all levels of an organization - including senior-level customers and strategic partners.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of relevant engineering experience

8+ years of people management experience, managing engineers

5+ years experience in partnering with and/or managing product management teams

Bachelor’s Degree

5+ years of technical leadership in SaaS or cloud-based data services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA, MS, or PhD

Leadership experience of >10 employees in a startup environment (<200 employees)

3+ years of Maritime industry experience, preferably working with data and analytics solutions

Entrepreneurial spirit with track record for delivering in an ambiguous and fast-moving environment

Experience working with data products and services, ideally utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence to deliver value to customers

Track-record of effective collaboration with cross-functional, cross-organization teams to assemble project plans, secure commitments on deliverables, and lead the resolution of blocking issues

Track-record of building and scaling a technical team, identifying and measuring success and progress, and creating execution frameworks for measuring key performance metrics

Ability to analyze business requirements, write specifications, scope technical requirements, and drive delivery across organizational boundaries

Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired

Prior experience building SaaS or data analytics products

Passion for understanding ambiguous, complex problems and driving high-quality, innovative, and robust solutions

Demonstrated ability to lead and/or engage in technical conversations with customers

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
