The Role

You will join as a Software Engineer working alongside our ML engineers, data scientists and other software engineers responsible for our Adverse Information and Media product.

You'll write new features that enable our platform to understand articles in the media, extract information about individuals, apply ML models to categorise their actions, and merge all this with existing data we hold. Your work will allow our customers to find out who has done something bad, what they did, and when.

You will join one of our scrum teams and help us deliver new features and maintain our platform as we apply new technologies and scale our systems. You will learn quickly and be able to adopt the technologies we use to develop code and deploy it to Kubernetes. You will contribute to sprint planning and be able to demo the features you’ve worked on to stakeholders.

We pride ourselves on having an open and collaborative environment within the teams. Ideas are welcomed and you’ll be supported by senior and lead developers to learn from and help deliver features. You will contribute to the overall success of the team, with focus on team rather than individual delivery.

Within the team, we look to developers to take responsibility for the quality of their code. Developers are expected to write tests, and take ownership of the systems that ensure the quality of our code. You will adopt best practices (and be able to suggest improvements to them), to get code from requirements through to production support.

What does success look like in your first 6 months?

You contributed to delivering your team's roadmap with high quality. You've helped achieve this by collaborating with other team members, and proactively asked for help when needed. You can explain in detail the part of the pipeline you’ve worked on, including its features and how it’s deployed.

You can explain to others the main problem we're trying to solve for our users for the product capabilities the AIM team owns, including where it integrates with other ComplyAdvantage systems. You know some of our customers and understand their biggest pain points. You know our future direction and participate in sprint reviews, and design meetings.

You have written clear, well structured code, with good test coverage, and have updated documentation. You understand how your code is deployed and have used the CI pipelines to deploy features to production.

You’ve helped break down stories into tasks and have contributed to sprint planning/estimation to help set realistic expectations for when features can be delivered.

Who we are looking for

We value those who take initiative and pride in their work and contribute to a positive working environment. You will be able to deliver on the points covered above, taking into account the following:

Experience in Python or Java of about 3 - 5 years
Alternatively, experience in another object oriented language and demonstrable experience of picking up a new language quickly
Experience writing production code with good test coverage
Ownership of software from idea inception to production
Some experience working with tooling for testing, build or deployment pipelines
Working understanding of logging, monitoring and alerting tooling
Good communication and writing skills including experience writing technical documentation
Nice if experience working in a multi-disciplinary team (ML Engineers, SREs, Product)
Nice if you have worked with containerised infrastructure
    An interest in machine learning

Benefits of working at ComplyAdvantage include:

    Competitive salary
    Stock options scheme
25 days' holiday flexible working hours, and remote working opportunity
    Company Pension Scheme
    Company health care plan
    Season ticket loan
    Cycle to work scheme

ComplyAdvantage celebrates diversity in our teams, and welcomes applications from all backgrounds. Additionally, we value potential and growth, so if you don’t feel that you fulfill all of the criteria, then you should still feel comfortable to apply and your application will be considered fairly.
