We are looking for an infrastructure engineer to join a talented team in the Platform Services engineering group. The Platform Services group is responsible for ensuring the reliability of our hosted applications in addition to providing tools engineers can use to efficiently develop, test and deliver high-quality code to production. A successful candidate is a self-sufficient engineer, who can maintain our existing infrastructure and implement tools and practices that increase the reliability of systems and increase the velocity of deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy tools for collecting, aggregating and alerting on server/application metrics; use data collected to inform decision-making on performance and scalability

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to evaluate, build, test, document and deliver highly available services to support core infrastructure and Doctor On Demand’s client applications

  • Be part of an on-call rotation that monitors/maintains availability of our application

  • You will troubleshoot, mitigate, investigate, and resolve production issues and their underlying causes

  • Maintain current environments, while working to improve the system architecture when needed

  • You will build tooling to enable us to deploy faster and reliably rollback

  • You will improve monitoring and alerting to enable faster mean time to response and resolution

  • You will write code and design services to improve the reliability of our applications

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • You are comfortable working with AWS

  • You have strong Linux/Unix administration skills

  • You have written production code in a language other than BASH (we like Python)

  • You have proficiency in a configuration management tool such as Ansible, Saltstack, Chef

  • Experience deploying a variety of web applications

  • You have a proven track record of supporting production systems, and are able to effectively coordinate incident response

  • You have familiarity with Docker and Containerization of applications

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and drive; able to prioritize and work on tasks independently

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States - no sponsorship is available for this position

Bonus Points:

  • Worked with a log aggregation framework like Splunk or ELK/EFK stack

  • History of working in a HIPAA compliant environment

  • Experience optimizing Postgres

  • Experience with GCP

  • Familiarity with Celery and RabbitMQ (or similar) for asynchronous tasks

  • Redis experience
