In addition to its constellation, Spire’s data infrastructure includes a global ground station network and 24/7 operations that provide real-time global coverage of every point on Earth.


Spire’s Earth Information (EI) Team is growing a portfolio of EI products ranging from atmospheric profiles and derived weather observations to space weather (SpWx) monitoring. Our current products rely on unique GNSS measurements collected by our growing constellation of nanosatellites.

As an Earth Information Sales Engineer, you will be a primary technical contact to customers on behalf of Spire's Earth information products and applications, including radio occultation, space weather monitoring, satellite altimetry, and derived products such as soil moisture and sea ice properties. Successful candidates will have a good balance of technical experience with geospatial Earth observations and interactions with customers of these data products. You will have familiarity with APIs and support the sales team with government, commercial, and research customers. 


  • Support the sales team in customer conversations and answering technical questions about our Earth Information data sets and products
  • Learn and interact with Spire Earth Information systems and APIs to provide customer data samples and data trials
  • Partner with product management to share customer feedback on the data and products
  • Lead or contribute substantially the technical input to proposals, white papers, and marketing materials


  • Direct experience interacting with customers of geospatial data and analytics, including ability to recognize and adjust communication style depending on the customer-type 
  • Experience writing technical proposals
  • A background and demonstrated experience in Earth science, Earth remote sensing, or Earth Information applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functional teams and explain highly technical and scientific topics to non-experts


  • Direct experience with satellite-based remote sensing and products, especially products derived from GNSS observations, such as radio occultation or GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R)
  • Experience with the commercial GNSS sector in precise navigation/positioning, real-time corrections, or integrity monitoring
  • Experience with programming and analysis in Python (preferred) or Octave
  • Exceptionally well-organized, with the ability to go as deep as needed in any project to identify and resolve problems
  • PhD. or M.S. in geospatial field, such as aerospace engineering, geodesy, remote sensing, electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
