Senior Sales Consultant, Western Region at Lightbend

We are looking for a skilled Senior Sales Consultant with a proven track record of designing, building, and selling development platforms. Senior Sales Consultants work directly with our customers and partners to help them understand the value of the Lightbend Platform, design the systems to use Lightbend’s technology effectively, and work in partnership with the Lightbend Account Executive to demonstrate the value of adopting a Reactive Architecture and building Cloud Native Applications.

Experience using elements of the Lightbend Platform is a must and the candidate should enjoy breaking down tough problems and advising clients and prospects how Lightbend’s products can enable the  delivery of groundbreaking, business-changing solutions that delight their customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise, assist and support software developers, architects, product and business owners to recommend solutions based on the customer’s requirements and constraints.
  • Engage with clients in midsize to large organizations to advise on how to integrate elements of the Lightbend stack into their environment.
  • Work with Sales Representatives and Sales Management to build strategies to drive sales into strategic accounts.
  • Qualify customer requirements and articulate Lightbend's ability to meet these requirements.
  • Ensure successful customer POCs through the management of acceptance criteria & issue resolution.
  • Partner education and deal support through effective mentoring and product positioning.
  • Developing and delivering company and product presentations and demonstrations.
  • Being an active member of the field feedback process to the Product Management team.
  • Engagement of the Scala/Akka/Play/Spark/Streaming communities through attendance to community events and the delivery of Lightbend content.

Qualifications:

You...

  • have working knowledge of Cloud Native Infrastructure (Kubernetes is required) and the Lightbend Akka Platform; Scala and Java, Spark, Kafka, Flink, microservices, including Akka, Lagom, Play and Cloudflow.
  • know your way around Open Source Software and can show it.
  • are a developer and evangelist of the Lightbend Platform; Scala, Akka, Lagom, Play, Java.
  • have experience in distributed architecture and functional programming concepts.
  • have a deep understanding of modern development practices including DevOps, containers, container orchestration, CI and CD.
  • are a voracious learner, ready to take on new technologies and techniques quickly and constantly.

 

Specific skill requirements:

Selling Skills:

  • Must thrive in competitive situations
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to communicate technological solutions and product knowledge not only to technical but to business users as well
  • Understanding of the Sales Cycle and where the Sales Engineering Team is responsible
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud, SaaS, Financial, Enterprise verticals.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal communications, and documentation skills
  • Ability to maintain focus and business acumen under sometimes stressful sales/business negotiations
  • Solution Architecture/Engineering experience in a consulting or development platform practice; able to listen to customer requirements, whiteboard and propose solution architecture, and get hands-on with the tech to design, build, and demonstrate real business value.

Deliverables:

  • Team with Sales Representatives and Sales Management to build strategies to drive sales into strategic accounts.
  • Create and deliver customer-centric presentations and solution designs.
  • Display comfort and competency selling to senior executive management, including an understanding of business criteria (ROI, TCO, NPV etc.).
  • Present architectures and business benefits to all levels of the Enterprise – Developer, Architects, CTO, CIO.
  • Provide sales support to Sales Representatives, Marketing, Product Management and Engineering.
  • Provide company representation in industry forums, conferences, and related events
