Position Overview

The Engineering Manager for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the team. The SRE team is responsible for building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure which hosts Valimail's cloud native applications. This includes responsibility for the CI/CD pipeline, monitoring, deployments, compliance activities, and domain management. The Engineering Manager, SRE will be working closely with both our Platform and Application Development teams.

The SRE team is an operational team but achieves operational excellence by adopting such modern practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation of common tasks, tool building, and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery.

What You'll Be Doing:

Be a champion for Site Reliability Engineering at Valimail by providing technical and managerial leadership.
Guide the team to maintain and build out our infrastructure, test harnessed, and servers
Identify staff development needs and implement a plan to grow staff in applicable abilities, specializations, and certifications
Drive the process in which our SRE team operates in order to continuously improve our infrastructure to be easy to deploy, scalable, secure, and fault tolerant
Collaborate with architects, software engineers and product owners to improve software delivery, configuration, monitoring, and operation
Ensure information security standard methodologies for our Hosting infrastructure
Participate in the Incident Management process to respond to emergencies and build solutions drawing on your years of infrastructure experience
Develop high level design interaction diagrams, system functionality changes and robust change management processes
Direct capacity planning, provisioning and scaling of the cloud infrastructures including cost benefit analysis of vendor offerings
Lead working sessions on designing and building automation
Implement standard methodologies for Operations across our teams to improve availability, security, visibility and incident response
Measure and report progress against targets for improvement in cited areas
Evolve infrastructure, server, deployment strategies and testing to support our goal of high availability as well as quick turnaround of internal deployments for the engineering organization

Have a broad knowledge of hardware, software, testing, network, and cloud technologies to provide a powerful combination of analysis, implementation, leadership and support to drive business forward via innovative technology stacks.
Proven track record at leading the implementing of technology based solutions to address complex information requirements.
Extensive experience in Linux, AWS Cloud, Azure, build pipeline automation, and network/server infrastructures.
Proven understanding of Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity of Operations strategies, and SLAs.

Bonus Points:

Creative thinker and problem solver.
Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Experience with GitHub, Terraform, CircleCI, is a plus
Prior experience in modern code development.
Prior experience in large scale operations
